Undergraduates from the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya, earned awards across several categories at SLIIT CODEFEST 2026, organized by the SLIIT Faculty of Computing. Their achievements showcase skills in IoT innovation, programming, networking, and entrepreneurship.

Team ResQ secured first place in the university category of Innov IoT 2026 with ResQ, a smart CPR training system. Sensors fitted to a training manikin measure compression depth, rate, recoil, pauses, and hand placement. Live dashboards provide feedback during practice and allow trainees to review their performance afterward. The team comprised S. Ganathipan, V. Amirsha, K. Kartheepan, and S. Kavishanthan.

Team Nexus earned second place in the same category with RouteLK, a bus tracking and passenger assistance system. An ESP32-based tracking device combines GPS, passenger counting, and GSM connectivity with a mobile app that offers live tracking, bookings, and assistance for passengers, drivers, and bus operators. The team comprised Thimal Liyanage, Dinithi Epitakaduwa, Lakshika Senevirathne, and Walter Ravindu Sudasinghe.

In Algothon, Team Nasakarar placed third in an eight-hour, on-site programming challenge involving the top 15 teams. The competition tested participants’ algorithmic thinking and problem-solving skills under time pressure. The team comprised S. Ganathipan, Jarshigan K, and S. Kavishanthan.

Team Timesware secured second runner-up in NetCom, where ten teams reached the final. Participants demonstrated their networking skills by connecting and configuring equipment, including routers and switches. The team comprised M. K. Hafees Ahamed, M. F. M. Ayyash, and M. N. Aamir.

Team Horizon secured second runner-up in the Technopreneur Challenge with Horizon, an intelligent smart mirror designed to support the well-being of older adults. The team comprised Sithum Perera, Anna Kurera, Kasun Lakshan, and Thenuka Ravindu.

These achievements show what PeraCom students can accomplish when they apply their knowledge to practical challenges. Congratulations to all five teams, and best wishes as they continue developing their ideas and skills.
