A team of undergraduate students from PeraCom, the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya, emerged as 1st Runner-Up at UoJCoders v5.0, a 12-hour overnight competitive programming competition organized by the Department of Computer Science (DCS) and the Computer Society (CompSoc) of the University of Jaffna. 

Held on 18 and 19 July 2026, the competition brought together 31 university teams from across Sri Lanka to tackle challenging algorithmic and programming problems under strict time constraints. The overnight contest tested participants' coding proficiency, analytical thinking, teamwork, and endurance in a highly competitive environment.

Representing the University of Peradeniya under the team name Fih, the team comprising M.N.A. Fikry, Imaadh Ifthikar, and Nithika Bandara delivered an outstanding performance to secure the 1st Runner-Up position, demonstrating exceptional algorithmic thinking, problem-solving skills, and the ability to perform under pressure.

This remarkable achievement reflects the team's technical expertise, perseverance, and collaborative spirit while showcasing the strong competitive programming skills nurtured within the Department of Computer Engineering. Congratulations to Team Fih on this outstanding accomplishment and for bringing recognition to the University of Peradeniya.
