A team of undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya has been selected as finalists at the International AI in Healthcare Hackathon 2026, organized by Central Asian University, Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.

This globally recognized competition focuses on developing innovative Artificial Intelligence solutions to address real-world healthcare challenges. It brings together participants from across the globe who are interested in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Healthcare Technologies. The 2026 edition attracted over 3,000 participants, making it highly competitive.

Representing PeraCom, Theekshana Dineth, Abhimani Perera, Sanketh Gunawardhana and Fikry Nuhuman presented their collaborative research and project work in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Biomedical Engineering. Their solution was commended for its innovation, practical relevance, and strong research foundation, earning them a place among the top finalists from a competitive global pool.

The team conducted this work under the supervision of Senior Lecturer Dr. Damayanthi Herath.

Congratulations to the team for their outstanding accomplishment and for bringing international recognition to the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya.
