PeraCom Undergraduates Become Provincial Winners at SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2026

A team of third-year undergraduate students from the Department of Computer Engineering, University of Peradeniya, emerged as Provincial Winners in Central Province at the SLASSCOM National Ingenuity Awards 2026, under the Best Innovative Product, University Category. 

Organized by SLASSCOM, the National Ingenuity Awards recognize innovative and impactful technological solutions developed to address real-world challenges and contribute to national development. The awards ceremony was held on 16th June 2026 at ITC Ratnadipa, Colombo.

The PeraCom team received this recognition for their project, “Smart IV”, a Medical IoT solution developed to improve the safety and reliability of manual gravity-fed intravenous (IV) infusion processes in hospital wards.

The award-winning team comprised Pavindran Velalagan, Shagiththiah Kirupakaran, Abdul Latheef Mohamed Suthail, and Paarkavi Jeyatheeswaran, all third-year undergraduate students of the Department of Computer Engineering. 

The project was carried out under the supervision and guidance of Ms. Yasodha Vimukthi, Dr. Isuru Nawinne, and Mr. R.A.J. Chandula Adhikari.

This achievement reflects the innovative spirit, technical excellence, and commitment of PeraCom students toward developing engineering solutions with meaningful societal impact.
